Be sure main shaft has been updated. Right hand bearing and shaft were increased in size.

We heard that a Deutz engine would costs about twice as much as a cummins engine. I would want a cummins engine. We just bought a 2344 Case IH and it has the cummins engine. Really good engine. Cummins i think is the way to go justin

We have a '94 R-72 with Duetz. For the most part just needs some hyper modifications. So far no problems with Duetz engines in both our combines. Between the two we have nearly 6,000 hours on them. Just love the fuel ecnomy. R-72 uses about 8 gallons_hour. Have heard new machines are more like 12 gph, of course they have a couple more horses and tighter emmission restrictions.

We have a 94 62 with that same engine in it. If it has been taken care of. You will like that deutz motor. Its a real horse.The Duetz-Allis rep told me that if those motors wouldnt last 10,000 hours it was because of poor matienance. We havent had the first problem with the engine since it was new. And it does use less fuel then are 72 with the cummins. Just keep the dust blowed out of the fins and it will keep on roaring. Illinois Gleaner

10000 hoursIJ there a lot of deutz engines around here with more than 10000 hours. My combine have now 13000 with a F6l913 on it. I've heard that V engines had some troubles with refrigeration. There are not many combines here with these engines but a friend had a F8l413 with 15000 hours. Anyway now Deutz put water cooled engine sin their new combines.

I have no problem with Deutz engines. We have run deutz for about 40 years on this farm, but I do believe they require more care that a water cooled motor. As said, if not maintained, they become a very expensive motor to rebuild. We put about 5000hrs on the same series of engine in a 9190 tractor without any problems and currently running the 6-513 in a 9690 tractor with 2000plus hrs. one other comment. in about that year(first cummins in gleaner) we used a R62 and I didn't like the motor. It seems to lack torque, but is sure liked it's fuel. It was some time ago but think we figured it was using twice the fuel and about 50% better feed rate that our R50. Most likely go look at unit in the next few days, but running engine will not be possible unless temperature changes. Today it was -27C in the morning. Gerald
