Combines 1996 2166 A C KEEPS DYING OUT

try putting a valve in the heater hose to shut the hot water from circulating. Had the same trouble with a Rogator that has a combine cab. The A_C's in these things run full blast and they use the hot water to regulate the temp if you don't want it as cold. Our valve was letting too much antifreeze to circulate. Have to crack open the valve if it's not real hot out or it will freeze us out.

Under the seat is the evaporator core, make sure it is clean, along with the recirculator filter, and there is nothing behind the seat, like a jacket or rags obstucting airflow. If all of that is OK the refer to your dealer about a service bulletin that relocates the thermostat probe. Alot of them were positioned incorrectly and would let the evap core freeze up before cycling the compressor. This is what sounds like is happening, to make sure when it the A_C quits fold the seat forward and see if it is froze over. If it is, then this is the problem, and after a while it thaws a little, the works a little while, then freezes up again.

As I said earlier, when it stops cooling check under the seat to make sure it is froze up, then follow the steps in bulletin nNHE SB 006 99. This can be acquired at your local parts dept by looking in SupportPro 2(which is the CaseIH computer used for looking up parts) under 2388. Then go to service bulletins and find the number which I gave you above.

Thanks for the input, The service man came out and spent alot of time, finally decided that the compressor clutck was slipping, Ordered and replaced the compressor the next day and it seem to be working well. Have not been in the field yet, we finally got a little rain, If it quits again I will definetly check under the seat, If some of you have this problem try cleaning the clutch with some brake cleaner and see if it helps. I will post somemore info once we get back in the field. Thanks
