Combines 1st year with Axceller

I agree with Wolffman. The axceller from Stewart Steel is a good buy. I put one on the 2388 and if it goes up the feeder house it goes on through the machine. I think it takes less horsepower if you run the same as you did before the installation. What you do is use up the horsepower with extra speed and acres at the end of the day. I enjoy the extra quietness and lack of rumble. The machine will shake when it digests a bunch of corn stalks.I can see no difference in the grain quality.

Bubs: What size platform do you runIJ What ground speed can you run in tough stem 50bu soybeansIJ I'm wandering if my 1688 is a little low on hp. My mechanic said he needs to check fuel pressure going to the injector pump. If thats ok I think I'll turn it up. Any thoughtsIJ Wolffman

Also finished my first year with the Axceller kit followed by Gordon bars over the first concave. In corn it proved nearly as good at cleaning off whole cobs as did my old standard rotor. In wheat and soy beans I added a full mile per hr to my speed and pushing it further could pull the rpm down but it remained smooth as long as the cutter would deliver it that way. I'm running a very late long sieve 1680. Its the earliest model recommended for the Axcellar. Money well spent! Finished on corn today. Clean the toys and put them away.

I run a 30ft flex. I can run 3.5-4.5 in green stem beans 50to60 bu. I started with a rochele rotor, rebuilt rock trap with serrated bars, heavy vanes in cone and new rasp bars on the front of the rotor. My 2388 had 1100 separator hours and the elephant ears, wear bars, vanes and rock trap were worn out. lots of soybeans and sand have been through this machine. It had been turned up to about 300hp, or so I was told. It runs so smooth in the tough stuff, as you know, that I forgot about the HP until I blew a rotor belt and then a PTO clutch. The PTO was due to a selenoid kicking in and out and probably the HP had nothing to do with it. I turned the HP down one half turn and don't notice any difference. Fall panican, wet corn stalks still make her grunt but I would not look back on the Axceller. If you need to do as much as I did it is well worth the money. I did my own work so the project was affordable. If I had your 1688 I would give the screw a half turn or so to the right. It's only $3.00 fuel. Make some noise and smile. My next project will be to update the rotor drive to the 500lb spring.

Thanks for the info, I definately need to check hp. It must be gradually loosing it, I'm only running a 20' flex and in tough stem beans the same mph as you with a 30'. Gorden bars, rebuilt large wire concave and no rock trap. Wolffman
