The three strand chain feeds better but I'm not sure it is worth the extra cost you're looking at to go that way. Several years ago I had to replace one of mine. The back sprockets were worn a lot so I needed to replace them also. I about fell over when the parts man told me the price for the back sprockets was just over $700.00. They have a big heavy pipe welded between the three sprockets, that's what makes them so pricey. I'm sure you can buy them for a fraction of that at an after market dealer but they would not have the pipe between them. The other thing with the three strand sprocket you have to keep the chain in close adjustment or it will wear a hole in the false bottem right in the middle in front where the middle strand comes around the front drum.
