Combines 2 combines or 1

In some conditions I could believe that statement. It obviously was made by a proud owner of an awsome piece of machinery. The question, "How high is upIJ" comes to mind when I hear discussions about the 9750STS. Is a larger combine even rationalIJ Right now the 9750 is so header limited that rarely do you see conditions that the separator is the bottle neck. The two areas that will be addressed this fall by Deere should launch an already ravenous performer into another universe. They are; inconsistent horsepower output and unloading rate. By going to the 12.5 liter engine and 16" unloading auger, will a 36 foot platform and_or 12 row cornhead satisfy this animalIJ I think not! We will need higher cutting speeds at the very least and the 600 series cutting platform should help in that area. 16 row cornheads are already being fabricated for cylinder_walker combines! Much has been said about Deere's rotary combine offering, both positive and negative. One fact is obvious. There are always a full fleet of semi trucks milling around a 9750 that is in full rut!

ask him how many bu. an hour he gets or how long it takes to fill his tank. you can figure it out from there. I drive a hillside 9750sts, with a 30 ft. head. It just has a 250 bu tank and I can fill it in 10 minites in 100 bu. wheat. So if a guy could unload on the go all the time and not have too many corners, he could get 1500 bu. an hr. I have heard people say you can get another 10% capacity with a draper header- I don't know, never been around one.

In some conditions your neighbor will get close to his statement. The draper head does part of the increase in capacity. I could never make an STS loose any wheat either. So he is not fighting walker loss like you do on an 8820. Running both machines on an 8 row corn head, the difference wouldn't be so big, because you can never make it up by speed, as I found out last year. Stick a 16 row on that STS and he will do about as much as two 8820s with eight rows.

Thanks for your input on comparing 2 8820s vs 1 9750sts. I talked to A JD salesman he says capacity on an sts is not A problem, it just runs out of horsepower, he also says a draper really makes them shine. I could not imagine the kind of animal an sts could be with 400+HP.

It is hard for me to believe that one 9750 could do as much as two 8820.
