Depends on where you live. The further north you are the more benefit because of more available daylight. As far as equipment you can modify that without to much trouble or there seems tobe more available in MN,ND,and SD. Hope this helps any other IJ's Just repost.

I live in SD and there is getting to be more 22" and 20" corn. It seems to pay off. I guess it all depends on what the year is like, of course. It also seem there is more and more used and new 20" equipment around.

We run 20" corn and love it. The weed control is worth it. By the time everyone else is cultivating our corn has canapied over the row and blocks the sun light from the small weeds. And the canapy also conserves moisture. We have a 24 row Kinze we would like to sell. Send me your email address and I will get you some Pics and the enfo. gdchaser@swbell.net

There is a shop in Benson MN that converts 30" JD heads to 20". I can get you the number if you are interested.
