Combines 2006 Harvest Done

My son , he'll be 16 in May, is daydreaming about going on the wheat harvest. Would you be willing to converse alittle with him about itIJ He is curious all about it, min age,$, and what it is like. This is the first year he has run our combine. We are Iowa corn and bean farmers. Thanks

I would recomend it going on a harvest run is a good experince. But I would research the crew you would be going with talk to former employees if possible. Wages should be similar to what a good farm employee would get plus your room and board. I don't know of an age requirement but I would think 17 or 18 would be a minimum just because a guy might get homesick if you were much younger. We see a crew from Iowa on our run can't remember the name but the town I think was Oceola not sure on the spelling.
