THe 2020 is a NH 74C head. All NH heads for most of the last 20 years over 20' were double knife only. The head will not hold a gearbox to it in a single drive situation. I have changed many sections on NH heads and really don't know why you consider them hard to change. I will say I am not very familar with the 1020 CaseIH heads but the NH was never any harder than the JD heads were. Do you have 3" rock type guards or the double cut type with the short stub guardsIJ The stub guard design has the top and bottom halves separate and does not cover the ends of the sections. The 3" guards are what are most common on all types of equipment from combines to haybines and sickle mowers. These guards also help prevent some rock damage. If you're picking up rocks into the head then why not change the head angle. This will affect the cutterbar angle to the ground. Tipping it back alittle willalow a better chance for the rock to flow under the skid shoe instead of up and into the head.
