Combines 2020 VS 1020

My first choice would be a draper but I dont think they make 20fts So I would go with the 1020 and buy it with out the Reel and then add on a Crary Air Reel to keep yur cost down with out having an extra reel that wont be used again.I have never owned a 2020 or operated it. I have owned many 1020s I have freinds that had them on 8010s and hated them they have all went to the drapers now and they said there old 1020s were much better heads than the New Holland 2020s there complaints were lack of being able to adjust it compared to the 1020s if you look close they look a lot like the old Deere heads, the new Deere flexs underneath look like the 1020s go figure.

I too, believe very strongly in skipping the first step and going directly to a draper head...The auger type grain head is totally lacking in capacity and even feeding in reference to the auger type head of anymake or who 'souped it up'.

What can you tell me about these heads, I just talked to the guy and he said there were alot of these running on Red combines. I just posted a question on the Gleaner site then came over here and saw your post. They are cheaper then a new head from the big companies,and way cheaper then a draper Thanks for any help IG

IG,Yes I have a Harvestmore head and I feel it is the best auger head going.With the orbit reel,SCH knife wobble box,flat stainless steel floor and back wall.C_IH style auger without any fingers,this head feeds smooth and evenly without fingers clanging and banging or air reel sucking power and causing lots of dust.The float springs, header control sensors and related hardware are all on the backside of the head allowing the knife and floor to be "flatter"to the ground allowing it to feed much better.It also has more flex allowing it to cut closer. I will admit draper heads will out run it but for the extra 20k I feel it is not justifiable just to save a day or two in harvest time. I did have a few small problems that John Young was more than willing to fix.The only "big"problem I have with it is the small right hand skid(that mounts to the knife)likes to bunch every so often.John has promised a new updated design(for free)this winter.Overall I feel it is the best head when you have to watch your bottom line.Good luck
