Does the 1020 header have a full fingered augerIJ Would an air reel have any value on a flex draper headerIJ

1020 is not full fingered. We don't feel that an airreel on a flex draper would be worth the investment. It already performs at least as good as the 1020 with an airreel. I don't think you could blow shelled beans on to the draper because of the stone lip and there is no need to blow the palnts further into the head as the drapers already move the crop as soon as it is cut.

I guess one would expect a draper to feed better than a standard 1020 auger with center fingers only. Full fingered augers seem to feed soybeans much better than auger flighting only. Kendall Roetman in Hospers, IA seems to do a good job building full fingered auger conversions for 1020 CaseIH headers. Seems to be a viable improvement. I agree that the air reel would not have as much benefit as the draper feeding system. Also, air reel is probably not as beneficial as full fingered augers either. Thanks for your help and comments.

A air reel would be pointless on a draper really... Glad to hear your happy with your's And we got 2 36ft case 2062 and we are really happy When you wash them at the end of the year open up the belts at the seem and wash them.. i learned the hard way

Wilbur what happens if You wash a flex-draper without taking belts apartIJ We own one and don,t want to have problems. Would appreciate any advice on cleanup. Thanks Papaw

I don't doubt that a full finger auger feeds better than a regular auger. However the distance from the knife to the auger flighting on a 1020 is 15" and on a 2062 flexdraper from the knife to the draper is only 6". A huge difference in tough conditions when the crop just wants to sit on the table and not slide into the auger or in short beans.

Brodale's evaluation of a flex draper is correct. It is amazing how well these heads work in short edibles. However, these heads are essentially three rigid sections with two pivot points a properly set 1020 with tracker is still the better head in hilly fields.

This is our first year with a full fingered auger,I would have to say for us the air reel is far more beneficial than the auger. I would spend the 10,000 on air reel before the 1,700 on auger option. the even feeding of an air reel lets us combine much later sometimes even through foggy nights. I would like to come watch that draper work a night it sounds very impressive.keep us informed on how it does for you Brodale

Watching it at night is the same as watching it in the day. The crop just keeps moving no matter how tough it gets.
