Combines 2166 Rotor loss

I'm no expert but when I get rotor loss I first check to make sure returns are low. A large percentage of returns makes rotor loss. Also, close the concave, make sure it's set tight and pinch point is correct. Concave levelness and pinch point is essential in thrashing wheat. I would pull those slotted grates out, at least 2 of them and put the keystocks in, that will get the straw tumbling to seperate, and if you still have problems put your other set of straight seperator bars on rear, that you use for corn. You might beat the straw up a little more but the wheat pays better then the straw. You can also put a large wire concave on the third position or pull every other wire in the grain concave. That will have no effect on thrashing as most of the thrashing is done on the first and second concave, hope this helps.

just a comment on how we set our 2366, First concave large wire with two cover plates then 2cd concave a small wire then 3rd concave large wire, then the next 2 grates are smooth pans, and last grate is a key stalk. also have rachell rotor with 9 Gordon Bars. Does a really good job of saving straw. we are very satisfied with speed of harvesting! just our 2 cents.

I removed the first slotted grate and replaced with keystock. This helped a little but it was in 120 bushel_ac wheat so it was hard to tell. The straw quality was very fine, had the farmer round baling beside the combine but he was not a happy camper. Hope to install 3 straight bars and another keystock grate tomorrow.
