If a 1995, make sure it has the updates......apparently the machines had a problem with the frames near the rear, and had to be beefed up. Depending upon where you are, that is a good price.
I just purchased a late 97 model 2188 with 1125 sep. hours, 35.5 rubber, and PRWD (no field tracker) at auction for $53,000. The machine was well taken care of but had some normal wear. We immediately pulled it into our shop and put about $3500 of parts into it (reworked the rotor, ears, and beater mainly). I think all in all we should come out all right on this.
Check out www.hiwayservice.com they must have 50 used 2188's and 2388's they will give good deals for cash. I have a 1997 2188 it has 1200 seperator hours on it. If I could get $115,000.00 CDN. for it I would sell it the price I am asking would include a 1996 1010 30' rigid header, a 1997 1015 pickup header, an extra set of wide wire concaves, and a complete set of Brittion milo guards.
Jake, I am from Arkansas and the machine we bought has cut a lot of rice and will cut a lot more hopefully. I watched a 2188 with 880 sep hours sell in Mississippi for $58,500 + 3% sales tax. It had not been taken care of. There is another sale down here March 14 that has a 2188 n189196 with 916 sep hours. All of these machines were_are rice machines. I know rice is hard on them but not nearly as bad some people think. I am amazed when I read on here about people having 1500-2000 hours on a rotor and they are "thinking" about replacing the ears and vanes. We replace our ears every year (about 400 sep hours) and the vanes about every other year. Every part that I put in my machine now is extended wear if possible.
