The top of the concave crossbar should be 3_8" above the tops of the wires, where original distance is 1_4" to 5_16". This makes the concaves a little more aggressive for thresh and separation, and doesn't require setting as tightly, allowing more of the pieces of straw to carry past. Also, wires need to fit fairly tightly. I suspect you have some tapered wear on the wires at the front of the crossbar, as well, and this will allow straws an entrance into the openings as the wires are wiggling around in operation. There's a little more to this -- hope this is clear.
