Check the connection on the main power line coming into the cab. We had the same problem with charging. The conection going through the wall of the cab had sort of cristalized. It is behind the small door that you use to get at the cab filter

My 2388 had the same problem and it was the cab plug. Mine had melted the insulation and the copper wire was discolored almost to melting the wire. Could have been a pretty good fire. My voltage was good at the alternator and batteries but it was about 11.5 inside the cab and the seperator and feederhouse wouldn't engage at times. I just cut out the connection and spliced the wires together. It has been fine since July.

Had a customers 2166 several years ago with a similar problem. Finally found a loose nut that held quite a few wires on the power stud way down in the lower rear of the fuse box area.

Switched the seperater valve between my 1480 (good)and the 2188. Bingo: now 2188 works and 1480 doesn't. Cleaned the cab terminal, helped a little but still doesn't charge where I think it should. Will work on the charging issue after crop is harvested. Thanks to all, John
