The springs on the slip clutch need shims under them to tighten the springs. It doesn't take much to keep it from slipping so don't over do the shimming. I believe the spacers inside the springs have a 3_4 " hole. If you use washers with this size hole they might be too thick and you might have the springs set too tight and you will have a much bigger problem to deal with then like a twisted or broken shaft. Best bet is to get shims that aren't too thick. Hope this helps.

Had same trouble with 1688. After several hundred dollars in parts, still had same problem. Took spacers out of clutch adjusting springs and cut about 1_4" to 3_8" off spacer. This allows you to tighten clutch a little more. Not sure if this is the correct way to fix problem, but I never had any trouble again. Maybe new springs would do the trickIJ A friend of mine also had problem on 2188, his answer was to stop greasing the clutch, which I've done the same.

Had same trouble on 1688. Cut spacers in the adjusting springs on the clutch about 1_4" to 3_8" shorter. This allows you to tighten clutch a little more. Never had problem again. Not sure if this is the correct way to fix problem, maybe replacing springs themselves would work.

In my area corn_soybeans everyone uses a bubble up auger in the grain tank with the tank extension. That takes the grain away from the incline auger and relieves the pressure on the clutch when the grain gets high into the ext.

Had a similar problem on a 2166 bin would get 3_4 full and jam elevator_break drive belt. finally found out that incline auger weld had broken and under a load would slip therefore jamming clean grain elevator hope this helps.
