Combines 2188 Rotary Screen

That is definitely a problem because I went through it with my 2188 (1996) and shortly after they changed them to a hyd. drive on the 2388s. Mine actually broke the shaft inside the air screen and had to replace it. When I was putting it all back together I could see that care needed to be taken to reinstall it so that it is as balanced as possible and that it didn't rub on the seal. After 3 years it hasn't come apart on me put once in a while my alarm will go off when I have a tail wind. I don't know for sure what's happening back there but the alarm only lasts for a few seconds. I see Case makes a heavy duty shaft that you can buy now. I'm sure there's more people out there that know more details than me. Good luck.

Oly is right. Get an update kit from the dealer and install it as per the instructions. Your machine should have been updated already by the dealer back in 1996 or so, but the shaft has since been updated again. The mounting flange for the screen is thicker than the old one. Pay close attention to the axial position of the shaft BEFORE the old one is removed from the machine as the measurement will be needed for proper positioning of the new one. Good luck.

Thanks for your help with this problem. I'm a bit of a "rookie" when it comes to a Red machine. Generally I do like it quite well.

I think 235975A1 is what you are looking for. It includes a larger shaft and heavier bearings.
