Combines 2188 Trans

When you rebuild this time install a set of 34_38 gears in it instead of the 35_37 standard gears. This is the gear set that should in the trans when duals or larger wider tires are installed. You will loose some top ground speed in each gear but the trans will stay together. If you are using R2 tires then you must be in wet_muddy conditions. You have to watch for this when buying a used machine as the tires are easy to change but the transmissions usually do not follow the tires. New 2500 series combines with 900 metric or dual tires come standard with the 34_38 set and Case-IH will not ship them out with these tires unless they have the 34_38 gear set in them.

Thanks for the reply, this machine bought new 97 is a rice machine an has 34_38 an this does lessen strain on trans but it doesn't help on the differential part, spider, spider gears an spider carrige is just too weak trans is fine no problem except differential section, hope they don't put this diff part in the 2500, added weight an HP will definitly be a problem, these spider gears can't take the transfer torgue from trans to final drives mechanic said they've had 7 trans fail so far this season all differential sections!!!!!

Differential problems are very rare in Ontario. Fairly flat and well drained corn_soybeans_wheat. Cajun Boy do you run in the southern US in riceIJ I hear that rice is the most demanding condition to run a combine inIJ

South louisiana, was a wet harvest for the most part, these trans don't look much different from the ol 915s except for the hydro brakes, which put a heavy strain on diff, the old dry brake system never worked much after the first year especially if it was wet, I'm putting together my 06 harvest pics will put them on combine forum when I have more time beans are on the way to harvest in a week or so!!!!!!!!
