Combines 2208 cornhead boiling up corn

Depending on the s_n of your head it may require one or two packages. First being a insert that welds into the feeder opening and raises the header I believe 3_4"or more and the second is a set of extended trough strippers and plates that help the flow into the feeder. If your header is very early production the flighting could be welded incorrectly at the center of head. Make sure the auger strippers are setup for your machine ie: narrow for 66 series and wide for 88 series, check your manual. I would also check with your dealer, feeding problem is worse the drier the conditions are.

Is the auger the problemIJ if auger is not bringing corn close enough to feederhouse, try some little pieces of rubber sticking out from flighting, not far, but provides a "grabbing" edge for the ears

I will second RedHat comments, we faught ours also win it was new. All three components were needed. Seems like the ole merger brought about several things less than ironed out. Does work well now, only thing I do not like is it tends to pull all the stalk down in that first area right after the spiral augers quit. We need to replace deckplates, but I been waiting, cause aftermarket are suppose to making some replacements. And I do not have too much loyalty to CNH, as I recal you have to pay for the remade bish adapter and the second stripper part.

RedHat you talk about a set of extended trough strippers and plates, would it help if I moved my strippers inIJ They are set wide for a 2388. Or is an auger stripper and trough stripper two different thingsIJ

If yours is an early one I highly recogmend you look at a new one at a dealers lot. If my recollection is right the pictures they had for correct reverse auger flights were incorrect themselves in their update bulletin. The written explanation details were correct but picture were incorrect. Confusing in the least. But once you read it and look at a correctly welded one you will get it...and see why the incorrectly welded ones increase the boiling or throwing of ears.

If and when you buy the update kit that raises the header in relation to the feederhouse throat. 2 tips. 1) You do not have to unbolt the whole center floor, it is possible to slip in the lower auger stripping sheets. 2) When you have to change the header latch u-bolts, it would simplify things if you just notched a slot for them to be removed and replaced on the existing floor sheet. A new layer will be over them. And to add insult to injury make sure they send the bent u-bolts in the kit, some were being sent with just longer u-bolts. They have to be bent and longer to allow the Over-center action to latch the header.
