Moved auger 1" off bottom and slid it just short of all the way forward and Cut off the reverse flighting. This helped it feed better, it stopped wrapping and it doesn't thorw ears out any more (still takes in way to much trash)
Yup, does the stuff just "boil" in front of the feeder house at the cross augerIJ At times it seems like with this corn head there isn't any room for the middle 2 rows to feed in.
How old is your 2208IJ There is available from case a set of transition plates that bolt right on to the cornhead right in the feeder throat area. There is too much of a drop from the cornhead floor to the feederhouse floor on the combine and stuff gets backed up. the new 2208's come standard with these plates but I think you can get them for older heads through parts, it will solve the problem. they are similar the old 1000 series corn heads that had the plates sticking out of the back of the feeder opening.
The 2208 is a 2003,bought new, do not have the plate you refer to. I talked to dealer this fall and he mentioned same thing but wasnt aware of cih part from cih, he recommened making one. Any more info would be great, thanks much.
Also a kit that is a weld-in on the header opening that raises the early headers roughly 1" on the combine feeder. Works along with the transition plates mentioned. Don't know the number, sorry.
