How about upgrading to a pair of 23.1X30'sIJ I upgraded my M2 to 23.1X34 and have a good set of 30 inchers mounted on Gleaner rims ready to go. South of Des Moines 30 minutes. $500 for the pair. Steve
I have a pair of 23.1-26 tires from my Gleaner F that's out to pasture. About 70% tread, no cracks, but some wear from soybean stubble. They are 10 years old, but always parked inside.I am located in SE Wisconsin.
Steve, what is the reason you moved to 34" wheelsIJ We are running an M2 on 23.1x30 wheels right now. Does it affect the cornhead angle very muchIJ Russ- NE of Des Moines about 3-1_2 hours (but still in Iowa!).
I replaced the 23.1x30 tires on a wet year with 23.1x34 rice tires. I run 13.9IJx24 inch tractor tires in the rear to level the machine. I have 2 M2 Gleaners with this tire setup. The wheels are dished out to straddle four 30 inch rows. The rear tires are reversed directionally to make steering easier in wet conditions. Tires will roll instead of sliding. They grip better than the originals to make steering easier. It has been dry the last few years but I see no reason to go down to the smaller rubber. The ground speed is improved and better matches the transmission in the field. You can really get with it down the road if you've got the guts. The M2 is now the same height and pitch as a l2 and the same heads fit both. The sickle pitch will need to be changed and the points on the corn head are raised to run level with the ground. Everything works fine. smoother ride on rough ground and less stresson rear end in small ruts. The unloader auger also gains a few inches of clearance that can be helpful. Steve
I saw a set of 23.1-30 rice on old M. Probably could have bought for a song. They were badly weather cracked and would have obviously raised front of F calling for need to raise rear too.(spend more money)My F2 has one Goodyear(bad cracks on sidewalls) and one off brand which is good with moderate stubble checking. This tire size hasn't been used for a while on new stuff so I didn't know if "good used"was even a possibility. Thanks
