had the same thing with my 98 for a long time till my tech unhooked the low pressure switch under the buddy seat keep it from working when it's cool outside give it a try.
I'd go with tony's suggestion, if we have problems that's the first thing we do is unhook or bypass the high and low pressure senders and soon tells ya whether your outta gas or there's something else wrong, even when your low on gas it'll keep ya going until you can get some gas into it.
