are you maybe running the rotor too slow, causing the belt to slip.

how many flat stripper paddles are you using at the rear of the rotorIJ

Most times when your belt slips its because it isnt tight enough. This goes back to your sheaves not staying together as the torque sensing unit works. Are you sure the sheaves arent cocked and belt is getting loose. Maybe bushings are wore in sheave. If elevator drives are slowing down too I would look at lockup pressure on PTO drive and make sure it is right. Have seen electric solenoid on PTO unit not let enough lockup pressure to clutch pack.Good luck.

Case came out with an "alternate belt tension" spec. last winter for problems that you might be encountering with 2388s. This spec. is not necessarily meant to replace the old spec., but to offer an alternate spec. in conditions like yours. First, use your rotor gearcase drawbolt to move the rotor gearbox all the way to the right side of the adjustment slot. Then adjust your rotor speed adjustment pulleys to 3.11" from outside of drive sheave to outside of drive sheave(I believe this was original spec. on the high-speed switch anyway, so you may not have to adjust this). Now, adjust your rotor drive sheaves to 3.86" outside-to-outside and adjust your low-speed switch accordingly(I believe old spec. was 4.09"). The idea behind this is to allow more belt-to-pulley contact eliminating possible belt slip. Also, check to see if your fan speed slows down when the rotor speed slows down, which could mean PTO clutch slippage, or separator drive belt slippage. There is a new, shorter spring for that belt tensioner which allows more belt tension. I presume your dealer has already installed the 600 lb. torque sensing springIJ The factory only puts on 500 lb. springs the last I knew. Good luck!

You are not alone. This is a very common problem up here in Canada in Canola. We had one custom operator that had 5 2388's in our canola one year, and they all slipped in real dusty conditions in canola. This happened on the 2188's, and 1688's he ran before. Can't really remember if they fixed problem, but they were trying to put in a deflextion sheild for the air near the rotor belt. One thing for sure is that Case IH is aware of the problem, since he was not the only one. One thing about canola is that in certain conditions......there is a lot of static electricity. Hell even when you wipe of the dust on the windsheild.....it crackles.

When you are haveing trouble with the belt sliping try to have a Massey rotory beside you, with the hydraulic drive you don't have this problem.A 2388 is a excellent combine but you owe to yourself to try a 8780XP,very impresive.

Have had a combine specialist from the case training center( for service tech's) do all the up dates in march he said nothing is wrong but something is not right because it is slipping and will be looking into it this next combineing season. He had looked into everything that everyone has for suggestions and i am looking for something different. Thanks for the replies.
