Assuming you have a 2208 corn headIJ 1) Ensure feeder chain is as far forward as possible, and roll face plate back to flatten out head. 2)There is a feeding enhancement kit that creates a small pocket behind the auger this may also help 3)Open deck plates as wide as possible without creating header loss, this will eliminate some trash intake. 4)Time gathering chains point to point-Changes relationship between snapping rolls and chain timing 5) Move header auger up and forward just like food grade_popcorn headers are setup-this will leave alot in the auger trough but just lower it down when done and clean out. These things have all helped me in some way. Good luck

cyclonedave, How do you time the gathering chainsIJ On our 1083 head we have 2 rows that the chains are not timed together. If you move the one of the chains forward 1 tooth on the top sprocket it's then ahead of the other. Move it back one tooth and it's behind. I asked our CIH service manager and he said the only way was to take the gearbox apart and retime the gears inside it.
