Combines 2388 overheating

Make sure your rad is very clean. Run your engine about 1400 rpm and use high pressure to blow the dust through. I removed my rad 3 years ago and had it properly cleaned at a rad shop which helped a lot. I have had people say to change the fan belt because it might be slipping. I did the same time I cleaned the rad so I don't know if it helped or not. 40 bu durum I cut around 5 mph and 100* weather without heating on my 2188. Make sure your cyclone works on your air cleaner, I go about 70 hours before cleaning the air filter. My brother's didn't have a cyclone and couldn't run more than an hour without blowing out the filter. He bought a combine with an ugly pipe going up beside the cab for clean air. He took it off for one day and the put it right back on. He is looking for a cyclone to put on for next year.

If cleaning your radiator lasts only an hour, then your rotary screen seal is not doing its job. Other possible solutions to overheating; Rubber grommet missing from bottom of rad clean air compartment, Air filter restriction, Turbocharger failing, Hyd cooler plugged and restricting airflow, Intake air cooler plugged and restricting airflow. Just some thoughts that might help.

I think your problem might be retarded injector pump timing. This is done to meet emissions by making the engine run warmer. On a 1680 the timing was 11 deg BTDC at the pump (22 deg at the crank). Our 1680 always runs cool. On the 2188 they went to 8 deg at the pump, and ours gets warm as soon as you get the engine loaded. Your 2388 might be even slower. If you could advance the timing about 2 degrees it might make quite a difference. If you do, I would really like to hear back how it works because I have to get the 2188 cooled down before next summer, and blowing out the radiator isn't cuttin' it!

Thanks for the imput guys. brother inlaws hopefully have fixed the problems. first one put in new door and rotary screen seals, sealed around rad to combine body,we will see. the engine timing thing sounds interesting as they are harder on fuel than my old 1680. second brother inlaw skidded his for a new Massey rotary this morning, this we will also see how it turns out.
