Watch the bearing that the fan itself runs on. If there is any play in the fan replace the bearing. It is not too difficult to do yourself.

On a recent mod program dealers were supposed to check fan to shroud clearence and add an oriface to the separater engage cylinder. The combo of these two things should take care of the issue. What was happening was that when the separator was engaged the engine would "shutter" and the fan could contact the shroud and crack the fan blades. This only effects 2003 and later models. Hope it doesn't happen as rads and coolers are very pricey. Happy Harvesting.
