I run my 2388 at about 2340-2360 under ideal conditions in wheat. I had run it for a while at 2300, but it was going to cost me a separator or rotor belt if I kept that up. Sometimes other crops have limits other than engine power.
JFarms Sorry, I meant 2400-2450 rpms when pulling. I keep hearing alot of different people running at different rpms on their 2388's. What I don't know exactly is: how far down you can get without hurting anything, except for a blown belt. later.

You can turn the rpm down, but you won't have the full hp. The throttle lever on the pump contacts a high idle stop screw on the side of the pump housing. Just turn it in to the desired rpm. You may have to readjust the throttle cable in the bracket near the pump. Just remember this limits the optimal speed of the cleaning system and elevators also.
