Combines 2388 to a 1688IJIJIJIJ

duke, if your priorities are function over fashion, then go for it. It's the same combine, just a little older in years. Of course your 2388 is still just a young pup. 1800 hours probly dont have the paint wore off the rotor yet When you run wheat and milo, are you running up against the power limits on the 2388IJ If power is not a problem for your operation, why not save a couple grand.

I'm sure that 1688 is cherry, I think it was used for mostly wheat. You might get a deal on it too considering the location. I saw 2 2188's sell last spring in that area, 1 under 30k, 1 under 35k. Not perfect but very cheap. How much do you want for your 2388IJ

I run both combines and love em both. but would not trade the 2388 on another 1688.I love the cab and the hydraulics too much and the extra power for the chopper

You may want to consider trade in value for when you trade the next time.

Are you looking at the 1688 coming up on a farm sale in FebruaryIJ

As a matter of fact I am. You just don't see many 1688's with that few of hours

Thanks guys for all the good points. I have thought about trade in value and that is a problem. I have several add ons on the 2388 that I probably would miss, yeild and moisture monitor and duals are the two that come to mind. I don't really know what the 23 is worth. It has always been shedded and is very nice. Would not even be considering this deal but a section of ground is for sale real close and the difference in cash would be nice. I do realize that it would be cash now and less value in the shed. I wish farming paid a little better so I didn't have to make these kind of descions.

We bought a nearly new 2388 last year. I also have 2 1688's. Although not nearly as quiet and nice the old "paid for"1688's made every round the new one did and at alot lower cost per acre.

They are still makin' new combines every day Duke, go for the ground.

Now there's a sound bit of advice! Combines are for sale everyday, but land only comes up once in great while.
