Combines 2388 to a 1688IJIJIJIJ

You say that you will miss the yield monitor in the 2388, but why not put one in the 1688. We have had an AFS yield monitor in our 1688 for 3 seasons and works great. Case will try to tell you that an AFS will not work in a 1688, but it does. Our local dealer decided to try and make it work on ours. It took some mods. but after we got the bugs worked out it is within 1-3 bushels of the weigh wagon every time. Anyone else running an AFS in a 1688IJ

Neighbor put AFS in a 1660, so it oughta be easy on a 1688. Chads

I didnt know about the land deal on my earlier post. If it means the diference of getting the land or not,go for the land.It will make you more money than any combine ever will.

Thought that was it, I'm going to look at it to update my combine. Sounds like it would be a nice combine. Will probably be quite a lot of interest in it.

Or not. I seen way too many guys go broke over land deals in the 80's. This is all feeling eirily familiar. Chads

Only duke can know if the land deal is right for him.I only know if I had extra cash available,I would rather buy land than equipment.Im not trying to argue with you,land prices are going nuts around here,I wouldnt think of paying what some of this land has brought.Amazing what a couple good crop years can do.What about the other 18 or so payments.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Just throwing out something to think about. When your family has been through a farm sale, it takes a while to recoup and reorganize and try to gain back lost ground, been there, done that. I'd love to by some land. But when it takes the return from 6-10 acres to make up the payments on 1, that's too risky IMHO, everybodies situation is different though, it's just something to think about.
