STS's had a slow unload rate of 2.2 bu_sec....it sucked big time especially in corn...I don't know of anybody that tried speeding it up maybe somebody did, would think it would just cause problems (mechanical, grain damage, etc) generally they set them at the factory for any color for a reason.

probably would't be a problem to speed up but you need to know max rpms after a certain speed flight will slap grain away form it and you will lose any advantage, check with a local grain moving dealer he'll know or would know of a source for that info as the flight gets larger speed should be reduced good luck

The 80's are already spinning faster than the 60's were, that's the main difference in unloading rate. A 1460 ran 578 RPM and a 1480 ran 586. I'm not sure how this compares on the newer machines. I think if I was going to try to speed up the system, I'd do it by adding a sprocket or sprockets at the outside of the belt drive. That way, if it's doing too much damage you could switch it back easily to the slower speed, say for soybeans, and rev it up for corn, milo, etc similar to the two speed clean grain elevator. I don't think I'd mess with the belt pulley unless there's no other way. Chads
