If you had IH before stick with a 2388 you won't be disapointed way less repairs and upkeep with the red and just as much power.

All I know, is that the corn fields are just absolutely green behind those combines. A couple neighbors run them and you can easily pick out those fields. Rotor loss is a problem. Neighbor demoed one against his two 2188's last year, and he still has two 2188's, for whatever that's worth. Ran em side by side in soybeans. Said he wasn't all that impressed for the hype. Chads

The only drawback is the price. The JD didn't go up in price like the 05 2388 did. Has me looking at the STS...

Cant beat a 2388, it would be foolish to switch colors, you would be very disappointed.

I've heard that it takes $1000's to keep the JD maintained compared to the CASEIH. We ran case rotors and went to JD walker, but would go back to case if we were to run a rotor again. Main reason we switched colors was lack of parts, and nearest dealer was 60 miles since they closed our local dealer.

rotary is awesome. I think the red ones are better on fuel that the green ones too. My experience has been that the green boys have less parts on hand. My local red paint place has a 2 story parts room. About the only thing they had to order for me was an engine overhaul kit. Plus, there is three of them within 40 miles, and only one deere place in that space

Sorry i have not run 9660 sts, (though i have ridden in my neighbors) we have run 2388 and 9610, we could not tell any capacity differences. 2388 is easier to set, operate, and manuver.... Also is lighter...not a big issue until conditions get wet. Neighbors 9660 sts is a nice combine......Unless the sts is allot cheaper, save yourself the learning curve of a different machine. Your not missing out by staying red! Good luck!

Do Your self a HUGE favor go to the 2388. We run all green tractors and have ran green combines until 2001. When Deere introduced the STS select dealers were to seek out low hour 2388,s and trade box,s with them. I bought one of those machines. I ran it until winter of 2003,then traded for a 9660 for 2004 harvest. The 9660 is the bean threashingst machine I ever ran in My life. The new 600 series head allow,s You to run 5.0-5.2 MPH at all times in a bean field, but the electrical problems are sure not worth the difference. When You have to have the Dealer out with His laptop to service the machine You got HUGE problems, especially when the warranty is gone. I traded back for another 2388 with AFX rotor this time. Don,t get Me wrong I like My Deere tractors, but I sure enough like My 2388. Hope this helps.
