You could run a 25ft. without fieldtracker, We have. You would probably need the fieldtracker with the 30ft. The duals would be even better on the 30 not the 25. My 2$

we have run a 20,25and 30 ft head in southern mich. We got first combine with duals this year, you can run without duals no problem but I wouldn't run any head with out tracker!!

ihman, For what it's worth, in soybeans we are running 2 30' 1020's with air reels here in NCIA (fairly flat) pushing them with an 83 1480 (no tracker) and a 04 2388 w_tracker. There is an advantage for the tracker but the 1480 doesn't do bad, you sometimes have to drive at an angle on some uneven places, it's amazing how much flex across the 30'. We have 24.5x32 set wide (132") same for the 2388 w_900x32 Trellborgs. Have never run duals so can't comment. The JD's in the area are running duals that are pushing 25and30 don't have contour master, though any new ones coming now have it. Any doubt, go with the 25', you'll be satisified plus will be able to move along at a goodly pace. My $.02 worth.

A field tracker is available for your 1680 from your dealer, if he can't do it I can. Either a 25' or 30' will make you happy. Singles are no problem I run a 30' on a 02' 2388 with 30.5x32 singles. A field tracker is not that expensive if you want to keep the combine for awhile. Even if you don't want the extra expense for the tracker it sounds like your ground isn't that bad. A 25' or a 30' will suit you fine.

I don't know if you no-til but for spreading the residue behind the combine over an even pattern I think you would be most happy with a 25 foot platform.

that's one thing I forgot to mention, no we don't no till, at least not now. As far as spreading residue I figured if I put the new style spreaders like whats on the 23 series, with the faster pulley that I would be able to spread 30'. thank you

The field tracker is not available as a wholegoods item, but it is available through parts. Tell your local dealer to take the wholegoods number and add a "1" e.g.-123456A will be a 123456A1. The field tracker will be one number then they will need to order a combine completing package according to whatever serial n your combine is. Email me if I can be any help.
