Hi We run 3D and Auto Contour on current machines and have just bought one with laser Pilot. 3D looks the wrong way to cure a sideland sieve problem but by shaking the grain always uphill across the slope it actually works better than any other system I have seen,we have run New Holland TF series combines which are the same as a TX back to the walkers. They have a self levelling complete cleaning shoe, which is fine up to about 15%, after that it,s nrap! More straw in the tank than grain. Auto Contour is the best ground hugger system that has been developed bar none. All makes now offer an automatic header but Claas is years ahead in terms of precision. If you cut a field of wheat with it set up correctly the finished result is stubble completely level, you cannot see a step in the stubble anywhere in the field. It stops "bulldozing" in damp conditions, and in crops like peas and Soybeans you set it up and push the hydro stick forward. It virtually eliminates any soil intake. laser Pilot is new to us, so I will reserve judgement, my opinion at the moment is that it does little for a good operator, but much more for a blind one! We've got to have it if we are going to try to beat 1000+ tons in 14 1_2 hrs though!! This lot sounds like a Claas salesman talking, but I assure you I'm not,we are just farmers who happen to get on well with them

The one advantage that has not yet been touched on here, regarding the 3-D cleaning system is, it is a fully "active" system, meaning that, when a lexion is equipped with a 3-D cleaning system it is always working (no means to switch it off). The advantage to having this system always active is: it constantly senses the pitch and roll of the machine, whether operating in rolling terrain or making a turn in the headlands using a wide head that causes the combine to lean into the turn. You would be surprised at how much a combine leans when turning, especially when using the brakes, on the the headlands with a 30'+ header, and loss will occur.

Thanks guys for the info as to how the sieve works. They really have something with that idea. I know from experience that keeping the sieves level even on end rows is important. I'm wondering about the entire shoe including the cleaning fanIJ Do they all move together on the lexion as on the TX and CRIJ

I understand Auto Pilot won't work in soybeans. Has anyone used them in SoybeansIJ

You might want to rephrase your statement to mention that "Auto-Pilot was not designed for soybeans," as indicated by the kind of actuators used to navigate the lexion through the field when using a cornhead only. On the other hand, laser-Pilot does have the capability to navigate the a combine through most soybean harvest conditions, especially drilled beans. The two systems combined ate still thousands less than GPS auto steering systems and are capable of comparable accuracy when properly set...all depends onhow much you want to spend. Also, each of these systems can be retrofitted to other headers (non-lexion) for use on lexion combines.
