Combines 30 platform on 8820

Certainly! In fact, an 8820 could handle larger capacity heads if so desired (i.e., 36' draper heads). We ran 8820's for years with 8 and 12 row corn heads and 30' flex heads. An 8820 is not a small combine, comparable in size to JD 9600, 10, 50. There are many JD combine specialists who claim the 8820 to be the best combine JD ever produced, to date! Huge capacity (for a class 6 machine) and excellent separation. With some slight "do it yourself" modifications to the fuel system (let your dealer do this) and threshing_separation systems (i.e., Kuchar cylinder and concave modifications and risers for the walkers),an 8820 can be quite a force in the field. Good luck.

Just like the other guy said. The 8820 was built for the 30ft header. I have never seen a 8820 with a smaller header. Alot of 7720's around here used 30ft headers too.

Thanks for the information I wasn't sure about the capacity of the 8820.

Ran a turbo series one time with a 24 and that is all it wanted. But! That ole girl had over 3000 hours on her and had about as much tlc as you would expect of one in a salvage yard. To say the least though in 50 bushel wheat that combine couldn't handle much more than the 24.

I agree with most of these posts as far as capacity. However, we ran one with a 224 and had a lot of problems with the feeder house cracking out in the frame. We do run deep furrow drills but always cut with the furrow. This machine had roughly 4500 hrs. Hope this helps.
