Combines 30ft flex on a 9550

We have several neighbors with a 9510 or 9500's with 30' flex. They seem to get along with them.They do not move very fast and after about two weeks it looks like they redrilled the field with beans.In tough conditions they seem to slug them alot.Just telling you what I see across the fence.

I leased two 9550's with 30ft flex heads and they did just fine in 30 inch rows at 3.2 to 3.6 mph but when I went to drilled soybeans at 7 1_2 inch spacing it was a whole new ball game. I was lucky to get 2.6 mph out of them and sure took all the power to do that. So I ended up only using about 20 to 25 feet of the heads to combine the drilled ground.

thanks for the input. i have been running a 9500 with a 25ft head in drilled beans without much of a problem. I just was wondering if capacity had been increased enough to handle the 30ft. still looks like the 25ft is the way to go.

We have run a 930 on our last two 9510 machines, and this fall went to a 930f on our 9550. You really notice when a bean is a tad tough in the stem, really eats up the power you have. Otherwise, in dry beans and stems, yields around 50 or 60 bu, we can go 4 mph all day long cutting full width. Have to admit to slowing down some if the ground is soft, hopper extension is full, unloading on the go uphill, etc! Just my experience, Hank

Couple of guys have 9500 with 30' flex. works ok, but up hear the 60 bushel soy crop is only once in 10 years, 45 is more normal. County averave is 30 I think. Duals on the front seem to be a must to prevent walking the header. But most of the 9500's have 25' headers, easier to transport.
