Combines 320 vs 520 flex heads

I'm sure you would be happier with the 500 in wheat and short beans even if you added the pipe trick. 500 would likely have better divider system also. It all boils down to money and if it were me and I could swing the 500 I'd go for it. You are willing to upgrade most of the 300 to what the 500 has but it would be rather major to move cutterbar closer to flighting like the 500 has and I doubt you are considering an air reel. I already have the new series dividers on and the pipe trick. How mush closer is the knife to the auger on the 500IJ I went thru the local dealers yard and decided that I know what I have now, wasn't impressed with what was there. Thanks Bert.

Very close to a strong 3" in locked up position. That can be a very long 3" at times. I'm sure it won't hurt in the long straw conditions and maybe even help. Thats why the 800 realy shines for it maybe even has a slightly closer distance from cutterbar to flighting than 500 and than the 7" flighting allows the tube to be 3" further away which is similiar to tube distance on 300. No need for the full finger auger with that flighting. Good luck
