Combines 3rd Helical Mod

Chrome helical included already bolted to triangle piece with 2 carriage bolts. Included in kit were 2 new 3_8 countersunk bolts to replace the ones taken out of crop divider. And a instruction sheet that said it can be put in from the grain tank lower access door which was a bunch of c**p......cylinder needs to be out of machine.

looks good Ed. I leave height of crop flow director original where it don't need to be cut away for helical. I got the patterns made up so it don't take me long to put together a few. I started making my own again after I saw how Gleaners block flow from feeder more than I would like. I think they make it as long as they do to prevent crop from sliping over to seperator side unthreshed. That is why I leave original height of crop flow director where I can. I also have a steeper pitch helical to alow me to stay out of the way of feeder. Don't know if that stuff makes any difference but why take the chance. I've been selling for $150US less $50 if they send me good used crop flow directer. loewen has had a copy of my extention but I haven't seen where they made it available. I do put these extentions in without removeing rotor if it isn't coming out for anything else. I first disconnect rear feed belt before getting into hopper so I can turn the feed chain. Then I have allen head socket with good selection of extentions and long 3_8" rachet. Before striping out either allen screw if it don't want to come I would heat area around screw with torch. Much easier to get them screws loose on the '96 and prior machines for they have a longer bolt with a nut that you can get an end wrench on. Anyway I would that helical extention in no matter what it took. Catch you latter

Hi Dan, I thought about what to do with the end of the crop divider for a while and finally decided to cut it off too. As I envision the mat coming around the cylinder and being guided by the helicals, I pictured a mat on top of the helical too. I thought about the consequences of tearing that mat apart just as it leaves the helical and decided not to. I don't know, it may be an issue though. One thing for sure - it's interesting to see the low spot on the bars right where the extended helical will take stuff away and where it was doubling up before the addition of the little piece. All that extra wear on the bars had to be using ponies that took fuel to feed. Ed in Montana
