Well I can only tell you the way I do it. If you owned the combine since new you should be able to remember if you installed any half links. If it is a machine you dont know history of, you can try to tighten the chain and if it tightens you should be ok. If it wont tighten see if it has a half link, if it does , remove it and try to tighten chain again. If it still will not tighten or does not have a half link, you need to inspect the rollers and make sure they are good. If they are you need to take off master link and check side deflection of chain and push and pull on chain to see how much pins are wore. I really do not know what to tell you on spechs of deflection or pin wear ,I just know what a worn out one looks like . Maybe some one else could help you with these specs. Good luck. Ps buy one new paddle and compare it to old one.
