The 4400 has a cylinder width of 38 inches, a little smaller than the 95, a 6600 has a cylinder width of 44 inches, giving it a slight capacity adavntage, a 4420 is a 4400 with the 20 series modifcations except for the reverser and hydro options.

In addition, basically a 4400 with hydraulic dumping augur extension, german built engine and transmission according to my Deere dealer. I have a lot of hours in one and it was a decent running machine, but this one of my neighbors had a lot of serious maintenance problems. Had an engine overhaul at 1,700 hours and two transmission overhauls during its 3,000 hour life. When he traded for the 6620 Titan II, it was like trading a VW beetle for a cadillac. That dealer parted out the 4420.

thats for the information- the first jd combine I was around was a 55 when I was a kid. my first jd combine to drive was a 6602- which is a 6600 with a jd factory leveler on it. I now drive a 9600 with a racho leveler. very happy with it

Sounds like you need a new (or rebuilt) injection pump. The pump has an electric solinoid which must remain energized for the engine to run therefore there must be an internal mechanical problem in the injector pump for the engine to continue to run after the keyswitch has been turned off.

Are you sure it's a 4420IJ The 4420's I recall never had a hydro transmission, nor did the 4425. The 4435 did, though!

I think $1000 to $2000 dollars would buy a decent 4420 if you can find one. Most of them are worn and rusted out. You would be better to spend more and get a 6620 with a hyro trans. The trans on a 4420 is weak. You will have to rebuild the trans or put a new clutch in it every 100 hours. The actual sheet metal on a 4400 is thicker than a 4420.
