The 470 will do an excellent job harvesting corn, providing that you have a corn front for the machine. Which model corn front do you have, an 838IJ Make sure that the APS concave grates are changed from the small grains version (6mm X 42mm)to the corn grates (19mm x 42mm),which are smoother, without any keystock on the grate's surface and operate with the dis-awning plates open. Operate the concaves in the 18-25mm gap range. Place the dual speed threshing cylinder to the low range by unbolting the threshing cylinder shieve from its planetary and bolting the planetary to the frame, operating the cylinder in the 250-400RPM range depending crop moisture. If the 470 is equipped with the three speed rotor drive, operate either on 500RPM for dryer crop and 640RPM for higher moisture (800RPM is typically for small grains only). 500 RPM will probably be the most suitable speed. If your 470 is equipped with a chopper, place the chopper to the low range and pull the stationary knives out of the cut. Operate the lower sieve wide open and adjust the upper accordingly, not to go below 17mm unless you absolutely have to. Good luck
