I have rebuilt a few JD cornheads for narrow rows, always 36 to 30 however. To go to 5 x 20" you will need 102" of toolbar to mount units. The total width of cornhead is going to be greater than 102" as outer fenders extend beyond toolbar. Not familiar with 20" tin or plastic, so can't give specific measurement. Weight off hand should be right at that of 40 series narrow or about 2300n. Transport down highway with head on combine is going to be 'iffy'. Toolbar is right at legal width in most states and fenders extend beyond. This head would work using old 40 series '344' frame. Also could cut down a 4 row, but why do all the work, when 344 is ready to bolt units on. There is one fly in ointment.....feeder house opening and drive line. Work only with green, so can't help on those issues. Hope these thoughts help. Have done several cornheads and its really pretty easy. Good luck.
