I have found the best reel setting for soys is as far back as you can go without hitting the conveyor, and as low as possible without clipping tines. I had trouble once when the pitch adjuster bolt came loose and pitch changed. Tom in MN

I have to keep the reel down fairly low or else the crop bunches on the feather sheets and wads start going through. The straw is still very tough yet the beans themselves are 12% moisture.

I've tried changing the pitch angle, reel in; out; up; down; the crop just doesn't want to pull under the conveyor no matter what. I am so confused!!

You didn't say how old or how many hours your head had on it, but many years ago I had a CII that would act like that in wheat. What I found was that the flighting on the conveyer was worn and rounded off, thus it wouldn't grab the crop and pull it under. A quick and dirty fix is to take a hammer and chisel and go along the flighting and make a sharp spot about every 6 inches to grab the crop. The better way is to run a small bead of weld along the top and grind it off square and sharp again.

There are cutter bar sweeps available from GlEANER partn71341087. This is a kit number to order through GlEANER whole goods. This will keep reel fingers out of guards and still sweep crop into conveyor.

I was thinking this myself and was wondering if I removed the drive chain and had someone turn the auger while I ground the flighting flat with my angle grinder would that workIJ
