300 is the oldest and could give you lots of trouble feeding short beans but work very well in long beans. Cutter bar is moved 3 to 4" closer to auger flighting on 500 so it will feed short beans better and maybe have a little more trouble with the tallest beans. The 800 is the best of both worlds where the cutterbar is the same distance from flighting as 500 but flighting is 7" tall. That allows an extra 3" to auger tube which helps plenty in the longest straw. Adding the 3" tube behind sickle bar will help all heads feed the short beans and help keep the dirt or rocks out. Add the air nozzles or air reel and you can thresh nearly anything nearly anytime. All these headers were built very similiar but like most anything the newer the better. Good luck
