Why honeybeeIJ What about macdonIJ What size header are you going to look atIJ We are running 30 ft. 700 series and are looking at drapersIJ Just wondering your preferences and whyIJ
We run 30 ft as we find that it is easier to handle in smaller paddocks, irrigation bays, gates, and would only need a 36 ft in lighter crops (36 ft could still be an option, not sure yetIJ). Heard good reports from other people that have used the honeybee fronts (feeding, double cut, low crops + price)!!. Dont really Know much about the macdons.
We ran 36' macdons 962series with 871 adapters on R72's, last year. they did good and macdon stood behind them well but thought the feeding could be improved, the problem is the 36'hdr is offset to the right and that disrupts the feeding a 30' shoudn't have this problem. Also the gleaner has such a narrow thoat and the center draper is the same width ,the crop tends to bridge across between the two side drapers. We are switching to 30' honeybees they have a wide center draper with a short center auger and feed pan under it, this should feed to the gleaner feeder house better. I did like the Macdon cycle drive it cut clean even with dull cycles in tough conditions. The honeybee has a hydrolic drive the macdon has a mechanical. You cant get factory fore and aft reel control on the Macdon like the honeybee. the honeybee is built more heavy. We are going to use the shorter honeybee in flatland soybeans next year, they seem to do better than a flex hdr. in flatground.
