I have had both too. The massey flutes don't last a third as long as the rolls on the deere, and when the flutes are smooth, they are worthless. When the deere rolls are worn, the still work. The massey has wonderful cheesey bearings on the front of the rolls and wear out accordingly fast since they are always in the dirt. The massey equally cheesey non greaseable idlers for the gathering chains and wear out in short order compared to the deere's greaseable ones which seem to go for way longer than they should. I never changed the strippers for either so that is a wash for me since I sure wouldn't stop in the middle of the field to adjust it anyhow. The sealed gearboxes on the deere are so far superior to the massey or anything else I have ever seen it is no contest. The deere is just as low a profile as the old massey, and I think the deere goes through down corn a whole lot better. They both plug if you try to push real dry corn though them. If you want to sell them, one has value, and the other is such you have to find someone who even wants one. They both will work, one is better. GS
