Deere has issued a letter to dealers concerning this. A big problem, but not huge. Not all 6081s use the same faulty dampers, which were supplied by Borg-Warner. Some engines and machines were repaired before leaving the factory after the problem was discovered, and the total number of engines based on the serial number range is around 12,000. Found in 8020 tractors, combines, cotton pickers and cotton strippers if I remember correctly. The problem has apparently been fixed and PIPs will be issues for the affected machines_engines. Engines that have already failed will be short-blocked or replaced with complete engines as the situation demands. It's a darn shame that a faulty part is causing this, because 6081s are exceptional engines.
