Combines 600 series head vibration

It seems pretty common for the outer ends of the 600 series to shake and vibrate when running. Sometimes caused by the auger imbalance. Other vibration comes from the knife drive. I gave a Header Interface Standardization proposal talk at the Top Farmer Crop Workshop in Purdue on Monday. I had several owners of JD 630 and 635 headers report similar problems with their augers rubbing strippers, knife backs failing, knife drives breaking loose from the header, etc. Some of these problems could be alleviated with phase seven of the ASAE proposal 05-5008 by adopting the centerline auger and knife drive system.

WE'VE SEEN THE SAME OVER HERE IN THE UK. a lOT OF THE VIBRATION IS COURSED BY THE KNIFE DRIVE BElT, bY ADDING AN EXTRA IDlER PUllEY AlONG THE BOTTOM RUN TAKES OUT A lOT OF THE WHIP OUT AND REDUCES THE VIBRATION.

I have repaired a few 900 and 600 heads lately. After running MacDon's for six years in wheat, soybeans and milo I honestly don't understand why anyone still wants to spend money on a green head.

The kit will fix it..it won't get better on its own. there is a strenght kit and a slow down. Slow down does stop the vibration. And no you won't have trouble cutting.
