They definitely don't work as well as the 1100 series corn head. The stalk roll flutes are not as agressive and we've seen several stalk roll gearboxes fail. Gathering chain system also lighter duty than the new series.If you choose to run a single chain, it may not be heavy enough. Overhaul each section you chose to reuse and be sure to obtain a set of vine knives if you don't have them already. These older headers were notorius for wrapping on the stalk rolls. lots of these headers parked and available for parts I'm sure. Some even had a variable speed gathering chain drive - interesting feature which may be nice on a narrow row with a single chain. Consider gearing up your stalk roll drive to improve the teardown of the plant, just watch the butt-shelling. Snapping plates are not quick adjust but get them set up decent and it will do a good job. Good luck!
