Have them surface ground. Antiseize whole length of studs. tighten than backoff then tighten up . let them warm up well before working and at least three minutes idle to cool off after working. They're really top performing engines when everything is right pity they did'nt give them a bigger exhaust manifold . Dont really know of anything better etc. Good on you for cranking all of them. pengs5

thanks for the advice, it is really appreciated! the damage was done when we bought them, lucky for the motors, we have a good warm up_cool down procedure. (oiling chains at days end lets them cool down nicely) We just got another 78, duplicate to the other. I think in grain that is a hard setup to beat! Also, this new combine has a good manifold luckily.
