Combines 6601 vs 6620

Your worst buy was a 920 mower with roll or impellerIJ What problems did you haveIJ Mine losses oil out of the cutter bar. The impeller slip clutch got hot one day and burned the belt off. I also have a 925 impeller, with big tires and equal angel hitch. There both nice to run and never would go back to the 1219's I know it not combines but , we all cut a little hay sometime.

The 920 I had was an Impeller model. It worked pretty well, but it "streaked." In other words, it left several thin lines of hay all around the field. At first, I thought I was cutting too fast, so I slowed down, when that didn't work, I thought the knives were dull, that failed, I carried it to my dealer. The mechanic told me a lot of Deere conditioners do this, and something about the way the crop and air flow over the cutting area. Maybe it was just a freak thing for me, but it just never worked. Now I've got a NH, and I really like it.

It is a problem they have, you could changed the knife direction to all spin to the middle. But then it puts all the hay in the middle and will not dry.

let me guess, you are a gleanor manIJ i'm not saying everything john deere has on the market is the best, but there has to be some reason why everybody is buying it. everybody takes the "green blood" thing way too far. i'll admit it is true to some extent, even for me, but you don't buy something just because it is john deere. that might be where you start but if another machine is that much better, you will buy it. don't you think there is probably a reason why john deere has such good customer loyaltyIJ

This is coming from the man with the 1_4 acre of lawn and doesn't believe anyone under the age of 30 should be operating farm machinery. I know I shouldn't have said what I said and now I regret it. Putting aside my first post I am pretty intelligent and the 510 is a good ole combine. I wouldn't say anyting else but when Oz comes on here I have to. I don't like him and I believe that he is an ignorant man who has no knowledge of farming at all. I hope you have your riding lawn more all stored away for the winter and make sure your kids stay at least 100 feet away from it, it would be a same if they actually learned something about work from you. But I imagine you do as little of it as possible and therefore feel obligated to tear youths down that actually do more than you. I would love to hear back from you Oz, I love to read your posts and have a good laugh.

My neighbor runs a 8820 he had me cut his wheat with my 760 because he said his threw too much wheat over the rear. The dealer has been out and they fought it for a whole year and couldn't figure it out. THe machine works good in in corn but if you ask me the Deere is pretty one dimensional.

Sounds to me like your neighobor needed a new set of bars and concave for his 8820 or just wan't setting his combine right. I use a John Deere 7700 combine in my operation and have been very pleased with it - at the present time I custom harvest grass seed and in the future I plan to use it in grain crops on my own farm. My 23 year old "green" combine does everything I ask of it and more - it's reliable (no down time in 2 yrs.),gives me awesome capacity while losing very little if any seed and constantly brings in some of the best samples to the local seed buying station. Another great thing about it is that I have learned to set it up and change the settings in the field to keep it performing at it's best and also know all of the critical maintenance areas. It's also good to know that our local dealer has a good stock of parts if needed and if they don't have it, then it will be there the next day. Also, this past fall, I helped my 15 yr. old brother buy a 6620 to use in our business - I decided on a 6620 after speaking with a friend who has run MF 550's, 760's IH 915's and now 6620's and he is by far impressed with his green combines - which now include 2 6620's and 3 6601's. kidroff - if you're a farmer then you know that if some piece of machinery is a P.O.S. from the get-go, then it will soon be replaced by some thing that the farmer knows will work. So lets think about it - starting with the 55-105 series, then the 00 and 20 series and now the 9000's there have been many farmers that have moved up through each of these progressions and run these combines, not because they're green, but because they do a quality job in the field and please the farmer come harvest time. If these combines were junk then they would have long been ousted for the machine that could do the job. To finalize, I am proud to own a green machine and run it for a long day and know it will do everything I expect of it and more and I feel there are many more farmers out there that feel the same way as I do about any pre 9000 series JD combine. 95man

Hey kidroff if the Massey is so good why do you see so many setting that have burned IJ And also you can buy ten of them for the price of a good John Deere why because nobody wants them !!!!!!!
