Combines 6620 Turbo vs l3

I don't know the specific differences in the machines internally, but I do know that most manufacturers generally made two versions of their machines in those days. A small-grain version geared more toward wheat and sorghum harvesting, and a corn or corn_soybean machine made for harvesting the larger-seeded crops. You get into something like a Deere 9500 and the corn machines have more horsepower, as well.

I can say that the l3 will have more capacity and be alot easier to take care of. The hopper and cylinder is bigger on the l3 or l2 compared to a 6620. The l3 with the corn_bean option had the big engine, hydro, variable speed feeder housing, and sometimes stalk shields. I would by a l3 before a 6620. But if you can go newer go to the 9500 or 9600. I just replaced my l2 with a 9600.

Buy the one with the best dealer!!! Parts in stock, back up machines ETC. If your Gleaner breaks down and you need to rent a combine you will have to find the same model(l or M) to use your heads or you will have to rent heads too. I used to run Gleaners N5, N6, N7. had to go green. Dealer had to order common parts often. Sad thing was we N series guys all knew each other and there were 20+ combines of that series in our local area. Dealer just didn't stock enough. Ns were good machines after you learned to run them.(That may take several seasons)

I definitely would take the l3 ahead of the 6620. More capacity and easier to work on. You might also consider a 7720. The 7720 would probably have slightly more capacity. Main reason I would even consider a Deere under your situation is because of parts availability. The l3 was a great machine, too bad Gleaner could not have made a larger version of it, say with a 60 inch cylinder rather than going to the rotaries.
